Music Schedule
INSTRUMENTAL
ENSEMBLE:
In order to best
serve the largest number of Middle School students in the area of
instrumental music, the traditional “Band” class has been expanded
to include any and all instrumentalists who wish to play in a group
setting. While still serving traditional band instruments
(woodwinds, brass, and percussion), the program will also allow for
guitarists, keyboardists, and drum set players to participate.
Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of styles of
music, as well as perform in small ensembles. The Instrumental
Ensemble meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch, as well as every
Wednesday after school from 3:30 to 4:00.
VOCAL
ENSEMBLE
The vocal
ensemble is an opportunity for students who enjoy singing to
participate in a small group setting, and provides instruction in
proper singing technique. It is available to any student that is
interested, regardless of experience. A variety of vocal music
styles will be explored and performed. The Vocal Ensemble meets on
Tuesdays and Fridays at lunch, as well as every Wednesday after
school from 3:00 to 3:30.
Also, the
students will have many more performance opportunities this year,
including a holiday concert in December and a Spring concert in May.
We will also have “Brown Bag” lunchtime performances, the Evening of
the Arts, and various other performance opportunities.
In addition, we
now have a computer program available to us here at Seven Hills
called Logic Express, which is essentially a professional recording
studio. Students will be encouraged and assisted in writing their
own music, with the ultimate goal of recording a group CD made up
entirely of original, student-produced music.
