Serving Preschool Through 8th Grade in the San Francisco East Bay Since 1962
...we are laying the foundation for preschoolers to become self-engaged learners, as they continue on their academic journey.

Did you know?

Rainbow students turn rainy days into learning opportunities--a time to collect rainwater, dig streams in the sandbox, jump in puddles and discover how rain reacts to paint.

Preschool (Rainbow)

In Rainbow we strive to create a learning environment that fosters creativity, independence, diverse thinking and love of learning through our Reggio-inspired philosophy.

Transitions are an important and natural process for all new preschoolers and their families. We help incorporate families into the Seven Hills community as well as help the children separate from their loved ones, learn to follow a schedule and feel comfortable in their new environment.

To start their day, Seven Hills' youngest learners have the freedom of a large block of uninterrupted time to explore open-ended materials both indoors and outdoors. This part of the day helps children navigate the social and emotional skills necessary to sustain friendships.

After a morning full of activities, we break into inquiry groups where we dive deeper into current class interests while implement cognitive concepts and practice important skills such as small motor, turn taking and patience, listening to peers and speaking in front of a group. Late morning activities include walks to the library and specialty classes such as music and gardening. Lunch is eaten inside the classroom and provides a chance to practice conversation skills, manners and learning about nutrition.

Our day ends with a reflection circle where children have an opportunity to share the excitement of things they have learned that day.

Through this process we are laying the foundation for preschoolers to become self-engaged learners, as they continue on their academic journey.
