Early Childhood
In Early Childhood, children begin to “mathematize” their world—connecting numbers to art, music, stories, and play. They explore counting, patterns, shapes, measurement, and spatial thinking as they build with blocks, sort natural materials, make rhythmic patterns in music, or notice symmetry in their artwork.
Storytime might spark conversations about quantity and sequence, while daily routines—such as setting the table or sharing snacks—offer natural opportunities to count and compare. These early experiences help children build number sense and see how math lives all around them.
