6th - 8th Grade

Middle school math classrooms are spaces for taking risks, learning from mistakes, and building resilience. Students are encouraged to play with mathematical ideas, collaborate with peers, and reflect on their thinking. Lessons often begin with open-ended tasks that invite multiple approaches and conversations.
Through discussion and group work, students learn to tackle unfamiliar problems, share strategies, and communicate their mathematical thinking clearly. They become more confident problem solvers and more collaborators.

Our program builds a strong foundation in algebraic thinking to prepare students for high school math. We recognize that learners grow at different rates, and our placement process ensures that each student is appropriately challenged within their zone of proximal development—where the work is challenging yet within reach.

Our classrooms are designed to support all learners through:
  • Open tasks and rich math problems
  • Mixed-ability group discussions
  • Thoughtful placement and pacing
  • A focus on reasoning, communication, and real-world application
