Community Lunch Update: August 2018

We have an exciting update on our Fresh Vision for School Lunch! Campus has been bustling all summer as we prepare our grounds, buildings, and classrooms for your children. We are proud to report that we have officially broken ground on the first phase of our new-and-improved community dining experience.
August 2018 Update

  • The new Student Commons is underway! Construction started on July 31, and will continue over the next several weeks, to create additional seating space adjacent to Tenvold. By the first day of school on August 27, students will be sharing lunchtime on the completed patio together and utilizing its extra learning and gathering space. Over the coming months as we “live into” the space, we will be adding beautiful furniture, shading, benches, planters, and gardens to the Commons.
  • After interviewing four highly-regarded food providers for independent schools, the Board of Trustees has approved Seven Hills’ new food partner. We are currently in final contract negotiations with the vendor, and look forward to sharing their name, philosophy, and tasty menus in September. We’re confident you will be impressed with their cooked-from-scratch lunches, snacks, and food for our campus events.
  • The Tenvold kitchen expansion and remodel is in design phase, and we plan to break ground this fall once the permits are finalized. Our partnering chefs will be able to cook from scratch in Tenvold in an upgraded kitchen with commercial ovens, grills, dish room (to allow for reusable lunchware!) and mobile serving stations.
  • Choice Lunch will continue to be our lunch provider until the official switchover in the second half of the school year.

Here's what we plan to share this fall as more details are finalized:
  • The selected food provider
  • The construction schedule for Tenvold expansion
  • Target date and details for lunch service
  • Additional progress updates and photos
We are so excited to welcome these improvements with you—fresh nutrition, community-building, and sustainable farm-to-table practices.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we will be in touch!

Gratefully,
